Resolution passed in assembly no different from HM Amit Shah’s promises: Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhry on Wednesday said that the resolution passed in the assembly was nothing different from what Home Minister Amit Shah had promised on the floor of the house.

Talking to the news agency, Choudhry, who moved the resolution in the assembly today, said that they have mentioned in the resolution that the government in Jammu and Kashmir wants to strengthen the country and under the constitutional guarantees, the government is seeking its democratic rights.

“I thank the NC leadership including Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah for fulfilling the promises done with the people of J&K during the election campaigning,” he said, adding that “if you go through the statement made by the Home Minister on the floor of the house, the resolution is no different from it as the government is seeking the protection of jobs, land and other rights for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Even if you conduct a narco test of BJP MLAs in the house, you will find all of them are happy with the resolution as they know how much the people of J&K need these rights,” he said.

“If the special status can be given to Himachal Pradesh and other states then why not to J&K. We too are part of the country and we have demanded the democratic rights today. We want to strengthen the democracy in India and the government has taken this decision as per the aspirations of the youth across J&K,” he said, adding that the rights on the resources in J&K should remain confined to the people of J&K only, however, at present the contracts are being given to the people from outside J&K.
