A day after the collapse of the roof at Delhi airport’s Terminal-1, a video surfaced showing the canopy at Rajkot airport’s passenger pickup and drop area crashed amid heavy rain.
Early Friday morning, a section of the canopy at Delhi’s airport Terminal 1 collapsed, resulting in the death of a taxi driver and injuring eight others. As a precautionary measure, all flight departures from the terminal were temporarily suspended. A total of eight people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Delhi.
The national capital recorded its highest single-day rainfall in 88 years yesterday. Visuals from various parts of the city showed several areas inundated with water, causing extensive flooding and resulting in long traffic jams that severely affected commuters.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning on Saturday, forecasting moderate to heavy rain for the next three days in the city.
