Economic Offences Wing – Crime Branch Jammu has charge-sheeted a mother- daughter duo for their involvement in hatching criminal conspiracy in duping one individual of Rs 12 lakh on promise of sending his daughter to Canada for higher education.
A Crime Branch spokesperson said that a 149-page charge sheet has been produced in the court of law for judicial determination against Balwant Kour and her daughter Simran Mann, residents of Sector 44, Chandigarh, who were booked in case FIR number 34/2023 Under Section 420, 120-B of the IPC by Police Station Crime Branch Jammu.
He said that the case was registered on a written complaint lodged by one Raj Kumar Nischal son of Kedar Nath Nischal of Chowk Chabutra Lane, Opposite Gurudwara Baba Chanda Singh, Pacca Danga, Jammu, wherein it was alleged this his daughter, Aditi Nischal, came in contact with accused Simran Mann, who was serving as IELTS teacher in the institute where the complainant’s daughter would work as a graphic designer.
There, Simran Mann promised to send Aditi Nishcal to Canada for higher studies in lieu of Rs 12 lakh, he said.
“After transferring the money to the accused person through RTGS, the latter started dodging Aditi Nischal on one or the other pretext and later cheated her of her father’s hard-earned money,” said the Crime Branch spokesperson.
On receipt of the complaint from the father of Aditi Nischal, he said, a preliminary verification was initiated and the allegations were prima-facie established and subsequently a case was registered for in-depth investigation.
During investigation, the relevant record was seized, statement of the witnesses recorded, and scientific, circumstantial, and other material evidence was gathered, substantiating the commission of crime by the mother-daughter duo, added the spokesperson.
While accused Balwant Kour is on bail after she was arrested by Crime Branch Jammu, her daughter is still at large.
