In a bid to encourage cleanliness and pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 154th birth anniversary, Municipal Committee Jourian conducted a plogging drive across the city on Monday morning. Hundreds of residents, students, members of NGOs and MC staffers participated in the plogging drive under the nationwide ‘Swachhata’ campaign Swachhata Hi Seva. Main goal of the plogging drive to neat clean and green Jourian ‘Plastic-free’ events were organised across the city to discourage residents from using banned plastic carry bags and single-use plastic items. Executive Officer MC Jourian applauded the residents, NGOs, students and employees of the Municipal Committee Jourian for participating in the cleanliness drives being organised in city areas. On the other hand various types of activities were organized by the MC Jourian like Drawing and painting competition, Quiz Competition , Waste to Art/Wonder, Nukkad Nataks/Street Play, Plantation drive , Prize distribution to all the participants , felicitation of Safai Sathi under Safaimitra and taking pledge to clean & green city.
The Executive Officer Subash Chander said it was the need of the hour that every city resident should join hands to improve management of solid waste and keep the city clean.
